Day 120 of 2017

I decided to quilt the borders with wavy lines which intersect at the corners.
This one just needs binding.

Day 119 of 2017

I've started quilting the rest of the quilt that Little E started
I am quilting swirls in the 9-patches like she started
and signature sunshine in the alternate blocks.
I'm not quite sure about the borders yet, but I have a couple ideas.

I also want to mention a slightly surreal moment I had today.
At my local quilt shop a fellow shopper asked me if I was Curiously Intertwined.
I said yes and we talked for a few minutes.
It made my day.
Thank you, Luanne, for speaking up and asking me the question.
I hope our paths cross again.

Day 115 of 2017

There is a quilt party at my house tonight.
The prize tray is ready.
There may be chocolate involved.

Day 114 of 2017

Mr. Cardinal was calling to me this morning.
I believe he wanted me to take his picture.
Ok, maybe he was actually calling to someone else.
A girl can dream, can't she?

Day 111 of 2017

Today's sewing was much like yesterday's.
These clips made quick work of a couple of curvy steps
which would normally have been tediously pinned.

Day 110 of 2017

I'm working on more sewing today.
What do you suppose this is?
I've used a really old Kaffe Fassett print that I found in my stash.
I think this one is mine.

Day 109 of 2017

The project for today was these little Petit Four Baskets.
The instructions are in this Fat Quarter Shop video on YouTube
I would be showing you four baskets
if I hadn't totally ruined one of them by cutting in the wrong place.
Once done, it could not be undone.
I guess I got a little too confident.

Day 108 of 2017

Yesterday's Dumpling has found some friends.
Be warned if you decide to make a Dumpling,
you can't make just one.

Day 107 of 2017

Today I made this adorable little pin cushion.
The pattern is called Dumpling Pincushion by Julia Williams of Alchemy Tea.
I loved making it and I am sure I will have to make more.

Day 102 of 2017

One of my very favorite trees ever is the Redbud.
We planted one in our yard many years ago which died a few years after that.
Lately I have been enjoying seeing them while I am out and about.
Then yesterday I noticed one at the corner of our house,
hiding near a rather large shrub.
It must be a volunteer.
I had no idea it was there, or at least I had totally forgotten.
I hope it sticks around for a while.
It makes me so happy.

Day 101 of 2017

A friend brought this wonderful quilt to our meeting tonight.
She found it at a local antique mall for a very good price.
There is a lot of fabulous fussy cutting and so much attention to detail in it.

Day 100 of 2017

Springtime.
The grass is green, the trees are pink,
and a storm is blowing in.

Day 99 of 2017

This month I've decided to try a mood mandala for my Bullet Journal.

Day 97 of 2017

There were so many quilts I loved at the International Quilt Festival in Chicago today
that I had a hard time picking one for picture of the day,
so I chose this quilt called Classmates by Noriko Kido of Japan
since it is made with a block known here as Patchwork of the Crosses
that I have been considering making.
Below are a few close-ups.

Day 96 of 2017

Hi!  We had to make one last trip to The Bean before leaving downtown
and heading to a hotel at the convention center
where we will attend the International Quilt Festival tomorrow.

I took this picture with the timer setting,
with the camera propped up on a nearby ledge.
Right before the shutter opened,
a couple people walked right in front of the camera.
I was sure the picture was ruined so I was on my way to set it up again.
As it turned out, they did not end up in the picture
and this shot turned out to be my favorite of the day.

Day 95 of 2017

This is the beautiful end to a wonderful day in Chicago.
Rainy, windy, cold.
The Bean, Hamilton!

(Sorry for the delay. Hotel internet is not always reliable.)

Day 91 of 2017

It is time for the Bradford Pear to bloom again.
We finally got a blue sky day for a nice backdrop.
Since the tree as a whole is not as impressive as in past years,
I have opted for a backlit close up.
